Quins vs Exeter: match report

Exeter claim victory over Harlequins to open their Gallagher Premiership campaign.

Quins scored first through Ibitoye but couldn't keep the lead as Exeter reacted by scoring minutes after giving them a 2 point lead. Chiefs were awarded with a penalty which Simmons successfully converted - adding to the margin between the teams. Quins slotted another 3 points to change the score line. So Exeter were leading at the break 13-11.

In the second half, Brown was stopped just short of the line. We kept going for it and got a penalty to go one point up. Exeter scored next to make it 16-14 to the Chiefs.

Then we made lots of changes. Dombrandt came on and played well. Ripped one ball and made some good tackles. But then Chiefs got another penalty: 19-14. Another made it 22-14. More changes from Quins, including Landajo coming off (had a great game). Then a brilliant try from Ibitoye closed the gap to 22-19. Quins had a near try at the end but an unlucky tackle without the ball (I thought) meant we couldn't get the winning try.
